PROGRAM COORDINATOR FOR PROFESSIOAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS , Office of Minority Education (OME) , to work in conjunction with other OME staff on professional development programs for MIT undergraduates, with a primary focus on underrepresented minority students (African American, Native American/Pacific Islander, and Latino/Hispanic). Will assist with the coordination and implementation of several key programs, including, Mentor Advocate Partnership and E-Mentor Advocate Partnership (E-MAP), Master Your Future, Laureates and Leaders, Pathway to Graduate School, Momentum, and Distinguished Peers; orientation; IACME Student Prize; other grant- and/or government-funded programs; and OMESAC Student Group of the Year Award. Will also serve as the primary OME staff liaison to individual student organizations and the collective OMESAC group; and provide general and academic advising and referrals to students participating in these programs and other student organizations that seek general advising and support.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a B.S./B.A. degree in a math/science field, education, student affairs/advising, or a related area; at least one year of professional work experience in higher education or a related field; experience with general student advising and the coordination of professional development programs for undergraduate students, particularly underrepresented minority students; ability to multitask and pay attention to detail; ability to maneuver supply/resource cart weighted at 30lbs; and advanced-level computer skills using software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FileMaker Pro, etc. Working knowledge of MIT and OME preferred.
