The Washington & Jefferson College Department of Campus and Public Safety is searching for a Seasonal Dispatcher. The Dispatcher will be the first point of contact to visitors and callers to the Office of Campus and Public Safety who are seeking assistance with emergency and non-emergency matters as well as service request calls. The Dispatcher will dispatch information to public safety officers and local first responders. The dispatcher will also monitor security cameras, fire alarm systems and other security systems, and prepare and maintain electronic records and log books.
Duties and Responsibilities
Receives telephone and other requests for service or assistance and dispatched information to the appropriate staff.
Monitors police base radio and 911 networks; receives, analyzes and disseminates information to public safety, fire and medical services personnel as necessary.
Ability to remotely lock building in emergency situations.
Writes and maintains reports of requests for assistance, accidents etc.
Relays information to Physical Plant third shift supervisor notifying him/her of maintenance issues on campus.
Additional job-related duties as required by the supervisor.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Must have good verbal communication skills and the ability to interpret written policies and procedures.
Must have a current driver's license.
6-12 months experience as a dispatcher, preferably in a public safety setting.
Ability to pass physical examination by a certified physician.
The position does not require managing other employees.
