The Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP), part of the Division of Student Life at the University of Iowa, is seeking a Community Prevention and Outreach Coordinator to develop, coordinate, and present sexual abuse education and prevention programs, youth prevention programming, special programs and related programming in the RVAP service area. Responsibilities to include:
Assisting with day-to-day operation of the crisis line and providing advocacy services as needed.
Training, coordinating, and supervising the education and prevention volunteer program as well as the Youth Advisory Councils.
Administratively supervising student staff.
Must be able to take call shifts on a rotating basis with other staff members and respond within 20 minutes to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

RVAP is a sexual assault victim advocate and prevention education agency that also hosts the Iowa Sexual Abuse Hotline. We serve anyone impacted by sexual violence - survivors and/or their loved ones in the following eastern Iowa counties: Cedar, Des Moines, Henry, Iowa, Johnson, Lee, Washington, Van Buren. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Working experience (typically 1-3 years) developing and presenting evidence-informed educational programs for youth (ages 12-19) or similar setting.
Working knowledge of and ability to utilize various methods to deliver learning solutions for desired training outcomes.
Demonstrated working experience with educational program development and assessment, event planning, and public speaking.
Working knowledge of community organizing strategies and tactics.
Commitment to and alignment with the values of the Division of Student Life, including a demonstrated commitment to excellence through diversity, equity and inclusion.
Demonstrated ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors at a working level.
Demonstrated working knowledge and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
Valid driver's license and the ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Guidelines.
Ability to obtain RVAP Advocate Training within 6 months of hire and complete Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault Certification within 1 year of hire.
Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Education, or related field.
Knowledge of the utilization of the public health model of primary prevention as a guiding education principle.
Working experience (typically 1-3 years) of providing professional sexual violence prevention presentations/training.
Experience working with sexual abuse survivors as paid staff or trained volunteer in a rape crisis center or similar setting.
Ability to speak language(s) in addition to English.
