Students are encouraged to meet new people and make new connections, and contribute to the residential experience by participating in activities and developing new life skills associated with community living.Under the leadership of the Associate Vice President and the Senior Director of Housing and Residence Life, the department consists of professional staff members, Graduate and Part-Time RDs along with 15 RAs.This is a 10 month live-in position.Position Overview:The Housing and Residence Life Part-Time Resident Director (RD) will work 25 hours a week at $13/per hour, ($13,000) and will receive a studio or 1-bedroom apartment as well as a full meal plan when campus is in session. This is a non-benefited position with limited professional development funds. It is a contractual agreement between the employee and the institution and is for 10 months. The contract may be re-visited for a second 10 month contract term in the spring semester.The RD lives with, ministers to, and provides support services directly to students and will be responsible for the oversight of a programming/education portfolio (i.e. Senior RA Growth Track and Social Justice Series), as determined by the Senior Director of Housing and Residence Life.The ideal candidate will supervise paraprofessional student staff, fulfill duty requirements at the professional level, including confrontation of behavior in violation of College policies, as well as responding to all residence halls as needed. Additionally, the RD will assist in the management and overall operation of an assigned residence hall as well as the safety and security of residents and the residence hall during an emergency situation.Please note: Graduate students are eligible to apply for the RD position. To be considered, a candidate must be accepted into a masters program that relates to the position such as education, counseling, or social work.
