Job Title Instructional Lab Coordinator (Cybersecurity, S13302) Job Description Summary Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, has an immediate need for a full-time, bargaining, non-exempt Cybersecurity Lab Coordinator (S13302). The work schedule is 40 hours per week. The normal working hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday and may vary by semester based on the needs of the department. This position will require some evening and Saturday hours on a regular basis. This role will oversee and coordinate the daily operations and activities of assigned cybersecurity laboratory and provide technical assistance to students and faculty. Job Description
Duties include but are not limited to:
Identify Cybersecurity activities that will support the instructional and Cybersecurity objectives of the laboratory. Organize the work and set-up equipment, instruments and tools for use by students. Provide direction in the facilitation of student laboratory experiences. Assemble and check equipment for proper operation and adjust equipment as necessary. Construct apparatus or devices as may be required.
Manage user accounts for virtual solutions, to include Netlab, Racktop, Azure and Amazon Web services.
Create tutorials for use of Netlab, Racktop, Azure and Amazon Web service.
Provide level 1 and 2 assistance to students accessing lab resources.
Communicate lab activities and events to members of the Cyberclub, registered Network and Cyber students, and visitors to the lab.
Present Cyber skills and provide guidance to students working on competitions.
Identify instructional activities that will support the instructional objectives of the Cyber and Networking (NWIT) programs.
Coordinate with the Office of Information Technology to install and test software and hardware.
Maintain the laboratory and ensure that it is clean and in good order. Ensure that supplies and equipment is properly stored and secured, and control access to laboratory areas. Maintain system and applications software, peripheral equipment, and boards.
Manage support classroom activities in classrooms in support of Cyber and Networking (NWIT) classes.
Manage support cloud service to support Cyber and Networking (NWIT) classes on TP/SS and RKV campus.
Organize the work and set-up equipment, instruments and tools for use by students.
Maintain software on 30+ computers (Windows and MAC) in the Cybersecurity Center.
Maintain two virtualized lab instances. The virtualized infrastructure contains over 200 pre-defined labs to support student learning and certification exam (COMPTia, Cisco, etc.) preparation.
Assemble and check equipment for proper operation and adjust equipment as necessary.
Maintain the laboratory and ensure that they are clean and in good order.
Ensure that supplies and equipment is properly stored and secured, and control access to laboratory areas.
Maintain system and applications software, peripheral equipment, boards and add-ons, productivity utilities and other special purpose software and hardware products.
Recruit, train and supervise student assistants and volunteers assigned to the program. Coordinate and assign work, monitor and provide training on safe work practices and procedures.
Supplies and Inventory
Prepare requisitions and places orders to maintain an inventory of equipment, software, materials and supplies. Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and orderly learning environment.
Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship .
Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited college or demonstrated expertise and experience in cybersecurity lab operations, network security, threat and vulnerability assessment and management.
Four years of experience performing instructional assistant/associate duties.
Knowledge of cybersecurity and cybersecurity education, including awareness of emerging trends.
Ability to prioritize tasks Excellent communication skills.
Excellent presentation skills, including presenting technical information to a non-technical audience.
CISSP, CISM, CISA, Security + certifications a plus.
Experience with virtualized systems, Type 1 and Type 2 hypervisors.
Experience with implementation, problem analysis and solution of infrastructure and business application environments.
