To provide feasible student financing options to all student populations. To varying degrees, coordinate one or more grant and/or scholarship programs for traditional undergraduate and adult programs. The home location for this position is the Chalon Campus.
Reviews files, conduct needs analysis and award financial aid to students.
Counsels and advises students regarding financial aid policies and procedures. Disseminate information regarding the application process and how individual students' programs affect their financial aid.
Researches and digests federal guidelines pertaining to federal student aid programs (includes attending workshops and conferences as well as reading and interpreting executive orders of Congress.
Conducts financial aid workshops for prospective students. Disseminate financial aid application and procedural information to all interested parties.
Educates the College community regarding financial aid policies and guidelines.
Conducts financial aid information sessions.
Provides assistance to Admissions with financial modeling and forecasting to achieve optimal enrollment.
Assists with development of financial aid consumer information applicable to non-traditional programs.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Sufficient working knowledge of financial aid regulations, student loan programs, interest rates and loan processing.
Understanding of the purpose and structure of financial aid programs.
Knowledge of various College programs, academic structures and admissions policies (i.e.Weekend College, undergraduate programs).
Knowledge of financial aid acronyms desired.
Working knowledge of hand calculations of needs analysis, statistical reporting and types of students' financial aid expenditures desired.
Abilities and Skills:
Effectively organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.
Build rapport and interact effectively with both adult and traditional students.
Effectively communicate financial aid information (e.g. options, requirements, regulations) to parents and students.
Quickly learn and keep up to date with regulations and guidelines.
Plan, conduct and oversee financial aid presentations.
Work well independently and in a group.
Analytical and detail-oriented.
Creative problem solver.
Strong organization and prioritization, general mathematics, counseling, customer service, oral/written communication, interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree preferred. Seminars/workshops/courses in student services area.
Minimum of two years' experience working in a higher education environment. 3-5 years' experience preferred.
