Job Description Summary: General Statement of Duties: Performs duties under general supervision completing moderately complex clerical assignments. Serves as department clerical expert requiring more experience and a broader interpretation of department policies and procedures. Applies department and University policies to solve problems involving other University units. May provide guidance to other clerical support personnel. Some social media duties. Reports to the Director or his/her designee.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of current office practices and procedures. Above average typing/word processing skills. Computer literate; knowledge and experience in the use of current administrative software. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and to take accurate messages and keep detailed messages. Ability to exercise human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with the University community.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a higher education setting
Essential Duties Gives information in person or by telephone to students, staff, and the public applying knowledge of University programs, policies, and procedures. Receives and solves student and office related problems; refers serious problems to immediate supervisor. Processes various documents; reviews for accuracy and completion; obtains all necessary signatures; routes to appropriate personnel. Makes recommendations on new procedures to immediate supervisor. Types/wordprocesses letters, memos, flyers, reports, etc. Operates information systems to produce conventional and unconventional correspondence, reports, and forms. Schedules and maintains calendar of events for advisors and director. Coordinates classroom rentals. Requisitions supplies, printing, maintenance, furniture, equipment, and other services. Operates and maintains various office equipment. Maintains confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the University.
