Essential Job Duties:
The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will guide and lead efforts to cultivate an environment that values and demonstrates DASA's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion (DEI). The position will be responsible for developing, supporting, and implementing diversity and inclusion strategies and programs for the division, serving students impacted by division units and programs. This work will be done in partnership with the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity and DASA leadership.
This position will report to the Interim Vice Chancellor for the Division of Academic and Student Affairs and has a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Vice Provost for Institutional Equity & Diversity.
Primary duties of the Director of Diversity and Inclusion include, but are not limited to the following:
Reviewing organizational practices, processes, and structures across DASA programs and functions to identify needed improvements towards achieving our DEI goals.
Bench-marking and research analysis, including monitoring and reporting on DEI topics.
Partnering with division units to develop programs for students. The incumbent will also develop dynamic and intentional DEI programs and initiatives for faculty and staff that support and align with division DEI outcomes.
Cultivating and promoting an inclusive learning environment fostering student development that encourages and supports community-wide programs, workshops, events, and advocacy for affinity groups.
Partnering with DASA Marketing and Communications to regularly communicate internal and external DEI initiatives, events and progress.
Identifying, building, and sustaining campus partnerships with student organizations, colleges, and campus stakeholders to support DEI initiatives and strategies.
Continuously reviewing our organizational practices, policies, processes and structures across all of our programs, units and functions to identify needed improvements towards achieving our DEI goals.
Curating a professional development plan for our faculty and staff within the division to enhance our capacity to create an inclusive culture and leverage our diversity.
Leading the division DEI advisory committee.
Representing DASA on other university committees, including the University Diversity Advisory Committee (UDAC).
Providing oversight for programmatic and training budget.
Supporting the division's commitment to Title IX.
Participating and engaging in other duties as assigned to support institutional and divisional success.
Other duties as assigned.
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Prior experience supporting diversity and inclusion programs and initiatives.
Proven track record of project management and ability to drive programs that support diversity and inclusion programs.
Ability to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally, courteously, and effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, including students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
Team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting and speaking to groups.
Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter who takes initiative and follows through.
Prior leadership experience in an academic environment preferred.
