The Associate Director for Special Projects will coordinate a multidisciplinary project team within the NRG Oncology Statistics and Data Management Center (SDMC) office at the University of Pittsburgh and be responsible to the Director for keeping the project on time and on budget. The initial project is the NRG Oncology CC-005 FORTE clinical trial. The trial will recruit 15,000 participants over 4 years and follow them for 6-10 additional years. The incumbent will interface with discipline managers and help to direct specific tasks for specialists assigned to work on the project. Specialists will include, programmers, statisticians, data managers, and others as needed.
The incumbent will also interface with external stakeholders including the study Principal Investigator, involved parties from the National Cancer Institute, professionals from the NRG Operations Center, and study coordinators and PI's at clinical institutions participating in the study. Day to day activities include directing or participating in meetings, working groups, and teleconferences with internal staff, staff of the National Cancer Institute, the Clinical Trial Support Unit, and staff from hundreds of participating clinical institutions world-wide to resolve issues, share information, formulate future directions, set goals, prioritize tasks, implement recommended initiatives, evaluate progress and assess efficiency.
Familiarity with conduct and management of clinical trials; personnel management skills; communication, writing, analytical, presentation, and organizational skills are essential. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
