Two Research Associate positions are available in the Feig lab in the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Michigan State University to apply computer simulation methodology, physical modeling, and machine learning approaches to the study of biological systems. Topics of current interest in the Feig lab revolve around the interaction of biomolecules in crowded cellular environments, the formation of liquid-liquid phase separated states, the modeling of chromosomal DNA, and the refinement of protein structures towards experimental accuracy. Exciting opportunities for new research projects exist in all of these areas.
Guided research in computational biophysics in any of the topics mentioned in the Job Summary.
Communication of research findings in the form of peer-reviewed journal articles.
Presentation of research findings at national and international conferences.
Mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students that participate in research with the Feig lab.
Shared maintenance of Feig lab infrastructure.
Doctorate -Chemistry or related
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or closely related disciplines
High proficiency of English language in oral and written communication.
Record of published peer-reviewed research articles.
Graduate training in biophysics, physical chemistry, and structural biology.
User-level familiarity of Linux operating systems
Experience with at least one of the following programming languages: python, perl, C, C++, FORTRAN
Experience with molecular dynamics simulations
Experience with high-performance computing environments
Experience with machine-learning methods
