Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Associate II for the The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences(SEBS). This position reports to the Program Associate I (PA I). The Program Associate II provides nutrition education and outreach for the SNAP-Ed program, primarily in Burlington County, and throughout Region 2 (Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer Counties).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Ensures compliance with all federal outreach and budget guidelines with regards to all activities that occur within the project.
Responsible for various reports designed to document the project’s success.
Serves on appropriate boards and councils in the community to maintain a strong presence for the program.
Serves as a role model for his/her volunteers, colleagues, and partners, and maintains a professional demeanor and confidentiality at all times.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in nutrition, or a degree in a related health sciences subject area.
A minimum of two (2) years community nutrition/health & wellness experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience working with the public and evidence of effective public relations skills.
Experience with public speaking, teaching and written business-level communication.
Excellent computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Internet).
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Accurate, excellent budgeting and financial management skills.
Seasoned in negotiation philosophies and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with limited-resource, culturally diverse audiences.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
Ability to quickly assess situations, think broadly and logically, make appropriate decisions that account for broad. consequences, and act swiftly.
Ability to demonstrate physical activity components of lessons.
Ability to shop and prepare healthy foods for cooking demonstrations, taste-testing, and hands-on food/cooking activities.
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
RDN or CHES preferred.
Bilingual Spanish/English speaker and writer preferred.
Experience implementing community health promotion and behavior change programs.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, and have experience working with diverse groups/clientele.
Experience working with limited-resource populations preferred.
Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends
Ability to travel statewide and have a valid driver's license
Ability to carry program materials and supplies, including audio-visual equipment.
Ability to arrange set-up of class space (move tables and chairs).
Successfully complete the following trainings: National Nutrition Certification Program, Rutgers Youth Protection of Minors and Harassment trainings; ServSafe training; Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Training); and other trainings, as required.
