Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Per Diem Mental Health Clinician II for the Southern State Correctional Facility located in Delmont, New Jersey. The Mental Health Clinician II completes specialized psychological testing and assessment of clinical needs of adult inmates sentenced to the Department of Corrections.
Among the key duities of this position are the following:
Arrives at DSM IV multi-axial diagnoses with precision and accuracy by the end of the evaluation sessions.
Makes clinically based decisions regarding appropriateness for treatment, as well as preferred treatment modality.
As assigned provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy as clinically indicated to assigned inmates.
Assists inmates in effectively managing crisis as measured by supervisory observation.
Collaborates effectively with other staff members, referral sources and support networks to provide treatment and care for inmates and families as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
Shows leadership and initiative in support of the overall UCHC mission.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Psychology or directly related mental health discipline.
Trained in psychological testing and measurement plus two (2) years post Master's experience in a mental health field or Doctorate in Psychology.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Valid driver's license is required.
Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
Must possess own vehicle or alternate means of transportation from one site to another.
