Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Health Services Office to serve a ten-month term of employment. The Health Services Center provides high-quality, confidential healthcare services to students in an ambulatory care setting, including RN triage for first aid/emergent care, acute care visits, and referrals to specialists. The RN performs nursing care based on the assessment of the patient's needs and executes medical orders from Nurse Practitioners (NP). This position educates, tracks, and immunizes students with special emphasis on COVID-19 contact tracing. The RN also provides individual health counseling and health education to all students and helps plan programs with other departments in the college related to the health and safety of students.
Triage presenting problem. May refer to NP as needed.
Responsible for the documentation of medical records as appropriate.
Coordinate transportation in emergent situations.
Responsible for reviewing on-call reports and for coordinating follow-up care as appropriate.
Consult and advise students on self-care management plans.
Receive and review incoming lab results, x-rays, and other medical reports and coordinate follow up plans.
Monitor, track, and order medical supplies and equipment as needed and approved.
Utilizing the college's EMR system, monitor, track, record, and generate reports on student immunizations, with special emphasis on COVID-19 contact tracing. Ensure compliance with regulations/legislation and assist with reporting and collaborating with appropriate agencies and health centers as assigned.
Provide individual health counseling and education on various topics, including, but not limited to COVID-19, nutrition, eating concerns, alcohol and drug awareness, contraception, STDs, HIV and pretests, and wellness initiatives.
Ensure Health Services educational materials, brochures, etc. are current and reflective/responsive to community needs.
Arrange referrals for students needing outside resources from other areas, both inside and outside the college community.
Bachelor's degree preferred. RN professional license, current in RI. Current, valid CPR certification. Previous nursing experience in a college health or ambulatory care setting. A strong background in communication skills, counseling skills, emergency techniques, and independent practice. Ability to use EMR system required.
Previous experience with telehealth is preferred. Experience with and/or training in contact tracing desirable.

35 hours per week, 7 hours per day
