The Buckley Lab (http://faculty.washington.edu/lbuckley/) in the University of Washington (UW) Department of Biology is seeking 1-2 postdoctoral scholars. The Postdoctoral Scholar position/s are 100% FTE with an annual service period of 12 months.They are non-tenured positions and are not eligible for promotion.
The Postdoctoral Scholar/s will participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded TrEnCh project, which aims to build capacity for Translating Environmental Change into organismal responses (https://trenchproject.github.io/). The successful candidate will conduct research aligned with the project and will contribute to the development of computational and visualization tools. Participation in outreach and education components will also be encouraged. Potential research topics are flexible and include characterizing how organisms experience climate variability and change; examining how thermal sensitivities evolve and influence the incidence of thermal stress; and developing methods to predict phenology, abundance, and distribution responses to environmental change based on organismal characteristics. The position will involve primarily computational research but may include some field or laboratory work. The study system is flexible, but lab research focuses on montane butterflies and grasshoppers as well as lizards. This position is based at the University of Washington (but a remote position will be considered) and includes a competitive and benefits. The initial appointment will be for one year with a possible reappointment for a second year conditional on performance and funding.

A doctoral degree in a relevant subject and experience programming in R or Python is required.
Experience with processing environmental and biological data, version control tools (e.g., Git), cloud or high performance computing, and statistical analysis is desirable.
Applicants with evidence of creativity, strong quantitative reasoning and communication skills, and engaging in open and reproducible science practices are particularly encouraged to apply.
Familiarity with physiological ecology and evolution is a plus.
