Job Description Summary
The Betley lab at the University of Pennsylvania are looking for a bright and motivated research specialist to be involved in establishing/maintaining the laboratory mouse colony, behavioral paradigms and experimentation, histological analysis, and laboratory personnel management. The position will involve working closely with others in the lab to plan and execute appropriate breeding strategies and perform experiments on how the brain controls behavior. Experience in neuroscience research is desirable, although exceptions will be made for exceptional candidates. Intrest about the role of exercise and the brain and metabolism is a plus.
Duties: The primary duties for this position will be to plan and execute the breeding and maintenance of genetically modified mouse colony and to perform behavioral and histological experiments aimed at understanding how the brain detects, integrates, and responds to physiological needs such as hunger.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with 0-1 year of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies. The qualified person will be well organized and detail oriented. The ability to design, execute, and evaluate a scientific plan. The successful applicant must hold a bachelorâ™s degree and would preferably have laboratory experience in either the biological sciences or engineering.
