Conducts experimental research lab work to be integrated with clinical data. Assists in design and implementation of one or more specific phase(s) of entire project(s). Follows appropriate protocols, policies, procedures, regulations, Good Clinical & Good Laboratory Practices.
The Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease Center (“Mesulam Center”) is a multi-departmental component of the Feinberg School of Medicine. We specialize in the clinical care and scientific study of neurological diseases that interfere with cognition and behavior. Areas of emphasis include age-related memory impairments and dementias. We are focused on Alzheimer’s disease, Primary Progressive Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia. Our three interacting missions are to investigate the causes and clinical characteristics of neurodegenerative diseases, to ensure that our patients are the beneficiaries of the latest research advances, and to explore the neural foundations of behavior and cognition in health and disease.
Following protocols, designs, sets-up and conducts basic experiments.
Analyzes and troubleshoots protocols and data obtained from individual experiments and recommends alternatives and suggestions to improve processes, validity and/or accuracy.
Maintains detailed records of results, which may include collecting, extracting & entering data.
Manipulates, interprets &/or presents results.
Prepares charts & graphs for presentations & publications.
Performs scientific literature searches in support of research.
Completes portions of grant applications, manuscripts & publications.
Trains students and volunteer lab members
Performs other duties as assigned
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated computer skills, including spreadsheets and basic computations.
Attention to detail and accurate record keeping.

Completion of 4 year Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)
Previous experience in or exposure to basic science research.
General knowledge of neuroscientific principles.
