The collaborative research unit led by Kevin Winthrop, MD, MPH is hiring a Research Assistant II to help with several of our research protocols involving human subjects. Dr. Winthrops team is based out of the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health. This research unit is actively performing COVID-19 research with additional COVID-19 clinical trial research in development. This position will coordinate COVID-19 research projects including clinical trials. This position will also support other ongoing clinical trials and infectious disease epidemiological studies focused on mycobacterial diseases and opportunistic infections associated with rheumatic disease and immunosuppressive therapies. Responsibilities include: 1) identify eligible subjects, 2) recruit interested research subjects through telephone and in-person meetings, 3) perform subject visits including informed consent, 4) perform administrative tasks associated with research protocols, and 5) interface with OHSU study team, including providers, other researchers, and external partners, to ensure study milestones are met.
The individual in this role will have excellent person-skills, be detail-oriented and able to track multiple projects long-term. There are other opportunities within the group including manuscript review and independent research.

Determine patient study eligibility, obtain informed consent, initiate patient randomization, enrollment, carry out visits with study patients
Perform clinical procedures including blood draws, vital signs and specimen collection.
Complete special projects under the guidance of one of the group epidemiologists, including chart abstraction, manuscript review, etc.
Bachelors Degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research/No Experience OR AA (2 yr) and 3 years of relevant experience.
Strong written, verbal communication and proficiency in MS Office Suite; meticulous record keeping and organization skills.
Masters Degree in Public Health or currently working toward Masters Degree in Public Health
2 years of experience in clinical research and 1 year of clinical trial coordination
A working knowledge of FDA, DHHS, IRB and other agency guidelines that govern clinical research
Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
This position may require prolonged standing, prolonged sitting and viewing a computer screen and/orlifting 25+ pounds.
