The Educational Psychology and Counseling Department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications and nominations for an open position for a Community School Site Coordinator (Coordinator II). This is a 12-month, full-time, exempt staff position.
The Position: Reporting to the Department Head, the primary duty of the position is to coordinate and facilitate a wide array of programming for the University Assisted Community Schools. This position provides day-to-day leadership in the operation of the Full Service Community Schools, and directs personnel, funding, and budget decisions associated with the operating and maintaining of these programs at Pond Gap Elementary School. This position develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates programs and services that meet program objectives for youth, parents and community members in the University Assisted Community Schools programs.
Responsibilities: * Provide daily oversight for the UACS program and services for youth, parents, and community members, while working in coordination with the site principal and other school staff. * Develop annual program offerings, both academic and enrichment related, on a semester basis with input from staff, students, administration, and parents assuring culturally responsive curriculum and assessments of a diverse student population. * Plans all logistics related to after-school program including but not limited to parent communications, rosters, meals, discipline procedures, and other duties as required. * Ensure the alignment and integration of all programming with the school's vision and curriculum to the fullest extent possible. * Bridge communication between school day and afterschool staff. * Coordinates and supervises volunteers and interns from community and University organizations assuring compliance with Knox County Schools and University policy for programs serving minors. * Responsible for hiring new staff and establishing performance standards for supervised staff and maintain appropriate records, including but not limited to time approval in IRIS. * Oversee daily staff operations and delegate and monitor effectiveness of tasks performed by community schools staff. * Provide direction, guidance, training, corrective action, and professional development for staff. * Plan and coordinate family participation events in order to strengthen family connections and foster a sense of community in the program. * Serves as a member of the school student support and attendance team to identify students at risk of chronic absence and disciplinary action, collaborating with the school, families, and community to provide necessary supports. * Identify, recruit, convene, and facilitate a site-specific coalition of partners comprised of agencies, organizations, and entities that provide services in support of the community school's mission and priorities. Guide and support a coalition of partners to assure programs and services are aligned and focused on results relevant to the priorities established by the school's leadership team. * Implement and maintain a process that encourages referrals to programs and services offered at the school; provides timely feedback to those who make referrals; and is alert to the need for programs not already offered. * Utilize positive youth development resources to improve student attendance, behavior and/or academic performance. * Utilize and develop survey instruments to assess needs of school, families, and community. * Conduct and review results of needs assessment using data to guide effective practices and strategies that can be of benefit to the after school program and community initiatives. * Coordinate data collection among partners, maintain accurate data records, and provide regular reports to stakeholders and funding agencies. * Guide and support coalition of partners to assure programs and services are aligned and focused on results relevant to community needs. * Identify potential sources of funding, write grants, and effectively manage budget for all grants, gifts, and sources of support for University Assisted Community Schools. * Provide grant-reporting data to granting agencies and maintain required records related to grants. * Work closely with Principal Investigator to assure fiscal accuracy and accountability.
