Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Appointee for the department of Medicine – Infectious Diseases within the New Jersey Medical School.
The Post-Doctoral Fellow will conduct genetic, microbiological, and animal studies to dissect the mechanisms of how mycobacterium tuberculosis infection persists despite drug treatment and to better understand the mechanisms of persistence-eradicating therapy.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conducts experiments in persistence models of M tuberculosis.
Performs Flow Cytrometry assays and analysis of acquired data.
Performs genetic manipulations of M. tuberculosis and other mycobacteria including cloning, and gene knockouts.
Performs 60 day automated microfluidic cultures of persistent M. tuberculosis and mutants.
Performs microbiological experiments with M tuberculosis.
Prepares manuscripts for publication of data generated.
Trains graduate students and technicians.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Doctoral Degree in relevant science.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience includes independent design and conduction of genetic and microbiological studies, experience performing unsupervised work in the BSLIII on M tuberculosis and M tuberculosis-infected mice, ability to analyze RNA-seq experiments.
Experience in automated, high through put fluidic studies of bacterial growth.
