The Employee Learning & EngagementConsultant (Consultant) is part of the Human Resources' People & Engagement group (Group) at VanderbiltUniversity and is an individual contributor responsible for managing aspects ofand facilitating facets of the professional development, employee learning,organizational development and effectiveness, and employee engagement processesat the university. This position works to support employee learning anddevelopment as part of the Group's objective to enhance the employee experiencethrough the delivery of learning programs and resources that further enable theUniversity to position itself as an employer of choice and to help drive theGroup focus to recruit, retain, and reward the best available talent workingday-to-day across campus in an array of roles ranging from those situated inworld-class research labs, supporting and enhancing the experience of ourstudents, to the administration of the university's business and operationalneeds, and more.
TheConsultant is charged with creating and delivering innovative employee learningand engagement programs to help the University accelerate its professionaldevelopment efforts and support the University's employment value propositionand employer of choice efforts. This position uses a project management mindsetand creative entrepreneurial spirit to build and deliver campus needs focused programs,and is a subject matter expert on how to best develop and resource talentacross all spectrums of performance.
Key Functions andExpected Performance:
Supportthe operational and strategic objectives of the Office of Human Resources, thecampus community, and the Group by leading peers and collaborators throughexpertise and influence; bring rigorous approach, informed byresults-oriented research and methods, to drive employee learning andengagement programs that are in demand and embraced by the campus community.
Empower employees to feel ownershipover their careers, and to feel connected to resources to help them learn andgrow. Drive impactful learning initiatives (e.g. upgrading onboardingexperience) to invest in values and behaviors that accelerate our institutionaleffectiveness.
Engagewith University leaders and campus partners using a high-touch approach, and involve/engagethem in all aspects of the employee learning and engagement process. Seek outtheir substantive input while at the same time offering expert advice that fostersa trusting and collaborative partnership.
Support and implement diversity,equity, and inclusion efforts to increase the likelihood of welcoming new ideasand perspectives while creating a stronger, more talented workforce. Cultivate relationships with communitypartners, professional associations, and peer institutions, and networkto identify, develop, and implement leading practices that enable theUniversity to develop and retain highly-qualified and diverse talent.
Proactivelyassess and develop learning focused programs and initiatives to enhance theemployee experience, ensure that the knowledge building needs of the Universityare met, and better enable campus partners to manage performance andprofessional development for their teams.
Implementcreative ways to provide training for in-office and work-from-home leaders andemployees to drive performance, support service delivery, and institutionalinitiatives.
Reviewand assess training needs of employees and departments based on skills,knowledge, experience, culture, and workforce changes; assistwith and facilitate post-training gap analysis' and needs assessments throughsurveys, knowledge checks and focus groups to implement timely trainingfeedback.
Facilitate learning solutions ineither a physical classroom or virtual setting. Serve as a role model forexcellent instructional facilitation and develop those capabilities in others.Develop facilitator guides, participant guides, PowerPoint decks, and job aidsto support learning opportunities. Manage existing and develop new employeelearning and engagement programs and efforts in support of University needs andobjectives.
Developand nurture an employee learning and engagement experience that translates to ahigh-quality working relationship and serves as the foundation for positiverelations within departments, across the university community, and with thoseseeking to join the university in now and in the future. Keep employees informed and engagedin the ongoing learning and development process by delivering a consistent and leadingpractice focused experience.
Makedata-informed decisions that provide customer-centric solutions to existing andfuture problems by developingand analyzing metrics, dashboards and reports that are available in theUniversity's HR-related systems. Use the data to make improvements where needed and createnew best practices to be shared with customers and across the Group and campus.
Activelyseek out continual learning, development opportunities, and stretch assignmentsfor ongoing career development. Participate in relevant conferences, trainings,webinars, and share best practices across the HR function, when appropriate.
Participateon special projects teams and work on various initiatives in order to enhancethe experience of our customers, colleagues, and candidates. Develop,lead/manage projects and programs focused on the employee learning andengagement space in order to meet strategic and operational needs of theUniversity.
Collaborate and work closelycross-functionally within HR and with campus partners and leadership; producenarratives and written reports that analyze and interpret program results andother findings to share and assist stakeholders across the University.
Design,build, and manage learning and development programs/solutions/initiatives fromend-to-end, including engaging stakeholders, driving continuous improvement,and measuring behavior change to help achieve desired learning outcomes. obtain the support and engagement fromcritical campus partners, stakeholders and influencers to ensure the successfulimplementation of learning and engagement solutions.
Develop and implement employeelearning, partnering with the stakeholders and leading ad hoc teams focused onmeeting University needs through the design and delivery of training. DesignTrain-the-Trainer programs and resources and processes to ensure unit basedtrainers have the capabilities to effectively facilitate and execute trainingprograms.
This position may have supervisory responsibilityover non-exempt staff in addition to taking lead with teams of peersboth within and across functions on specific projects. This position reportsadministratively and functionally to a member of People & Engagementleadership.
