Serving a diverse student body of approximately 7,500 undergraduate and graduate students, Tufts University Health Service supports the educational mission of Tufts University by providing accessible and high quality health care for a diverse student population. We have a busy medical practice serving the acute and chronic medical needs of undergraduate and graduate students. WE ARE CURRENTLY PROVIDING MEDICAL CARE FOR STUDENTS WITH COVID19 BY BOTH IN-PERSON AND TELEHEALTH MODELS. We strive to maintain the physical, psychological, and social health of students. NPs and PAs work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet the medical needs of students, including disease prevention, health promotion, and the full spectrum of routine primary care.
The Advanced Practice Clinician provides primary care and episodic care to undergraduate and graduate students in both the appointment and walk in setting, working in conjunction with the rest of the clinical staff. There is a strong emphasis on all gender reproductive and sexual health care. Common acute illness and injuries are seen, as well as ongoing follow up of common chronic illnesses in this age group (asthma, allergies, migraines, GI conditions, eating disorders, musculoskeletal complaints). We provide depression screening to all students; comfort in talking about mental health is required. All clinicians rotate in providing back up to our 24/7 nurse advice line. All clinicians rotate in providing weekend coverage for the clinic. Over the coming year we expect to have a large focus on evaluating and managing students with respiratory symptoms and providing COVID testing.
MA level degree as a Nurse practitioner or physician assistant required.
Must be licensed or license eligible to practice in MA.
Demonstrated training and experience with the needs of diverse populations and the impact of racial trauma and racism.
Some training regarding the health needs of LGBQ+ students essential, as well as students of different ethnicities and immigration histories.
3 years or more experience in an ambulatory primary care setting required.
Experience in a university health setting strongly preferred.
