We are seeking a highly-motivated and skilled Senior Research Technician who will be responsible for providing high-level technical support for ongoing research efforts in the labs of Dr. Scott Armstrong and Dr. Kimberly Stegmaier and the Center for Pediatric Cancer Therapeutics. Our research focuses on identifying new treatment approaches for pediatric patients with cancer. The laboratory uses a variety of genomic, epigenomic, and chemical biology approaches to characterize the mechanisms that control pediatric cancer development and identify new therapeutic targets. The senior research technician will work with in vitro and in vivo models of pediatric cancers to validate new therapeutic candidates for leukemias and solid tumors. The candidate will interact and collaborate closely with other laboratory-based scientists across the Center, Armstrong and Stegmaier labs and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Help to plan and execute pre-clinical in vivo mouse studies with novel therapeutic agents in mouse models of cancer - will assess tumor formation and drug response; perform animal handling, bleeding, injections, dosing
Independently execute cell and molecular biology techniques including Western blotting, FACS, PCR, sterile tissue culture, DNA/RNA isolation and gene expression analysis (qPCR and preparing samples for RNA-seq), ChIP-seq, etc.
Order, prepare and maintain stocks of necessary reagents, solutions, and supplies
Document, analyze and organize experimental data
Effectively report data in written and oral formats
Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field
2 - 4 years of related experience in a scientific or medical research setting
Animal handling experience with proficiency in mouse tumor models is preferred.
Experience with molecular biology techniques including sterile tissue culture, DNA/RNA isolation, Western blotting, PCR, and flow cytometry
Requires a working knowledge of basic computer skills, including data management, word processing, and graphic software (Excel, MS Word, Graphpad/PRISM) is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational techniques, including attention to detail and the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
