The ResearchAssistant I will be part of the Colbran lab in the Departments of MolecularPhysiology and Biophysics (MPB) and of Pharmacology at Vanderbilt University, avery collaborative research team. Theindividual appointed to this position will be a key contributor to the lab teamand will be primarily assisting a postdoctoral fellow and a research trackfaculty member in conducting experimental analyses of the regulation of geneexpression in the brain. This position requires knowledge of basic laboratoryprocedures and record keeping. Prior experiencein molecular biology and cell culture will be an advantage, although necessaryspecialized training will be provided. Suitably motivated individuals will havethe opportunity to develop their own projects. Other responsibilities willinclude ordering and organizing lab supplies, and maintenance of common lab reagents/buffers.
The Departmentsof MPB and Pharmacology are basic science departments in the VanderbiltUniversity School of Medicine. The departments are consistently ranked among thetop ten of their kind in the nation based on funding from the NationalInstitutes of Health, as well NRC ranking of related graduate programs. Facultyin the department use diverse cutting edge techniques to address importantresearch questions that span the spectrum of biomedical sciences. The Colbranlab is also affiliated with the Vanderbilt Brain Institute, the VanderbiltKennedy Center, the Vanderbilt Diabetes Center, and the Vanderbilt-IngramCancer Center.
