School of Biological Sciences (Lab of Dr. Stephane Dissel)
The laboratory of Dr. Stephane Dissel in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is currently seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the lab. We employ a variety of techniques, including Drosophila genetics, behavioral assays, confocal microscopy, live-brain imaging and neural circuits mapping and manipulation, to understand the molecular and cellular basis of sleep and its interaction with memory and plasticity. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to develop their own research projects within the scientific interests of the lab. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to present their work at relevant conferences and scientific meetings.
Well-qualified applicants who have earned a PhD in Neurobiology, Neuroscience or Molecular Biology, including current doctoral students who expect to earn their PhD degree by September 1, 2019 are invited to apply. Other qualifications include:
A good track record of publications.
Strong critical thinking.
Good communication and writing skills.
Previous experience in confocal microscopy and live brain imaging is desirable.
Previous research experience with Drosophila neurobiology is also desirable but not essential.

Salary for this position startsat $47,476 and will commensurate with prior experience
