This position is open to individuals with the qualifications of a Postdoctoral Scholar/Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Karl Kador at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the field of regenerative medicine for the treatment of vision diseases. The title of the candidate will be determined by education and experience. This position will focus on the use of 3D bioprinting combined with biodegradable scaffolds to create a new model of glaucoma. The successful applicant will design experiments to optimize printing conditions for the survival and positioning as well as eventual migration of retinal neurons, glia and stem cells. Samples will be evaluated histologically for their ability to recapitulate the 3D organization of the retina as well as ability to model functional changes observed during glaucoma.
This position is part of an exchange program and the applicant must be willing to move to Dublin, Ireland for 3 months as a part of the exchange. The successful applicant will be expected to design and conduct experiments, analyze results, write manuscripts and present results at national meetings.

Recent PhD or MD graduates with a background in biomedical engineering, stem cell biology and neuroscience are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in 3D bioprinting and retinal/neural stem cell biology / organoid formation.
Candidates without a doctorate but with experience in preferred areas will be considered at the Senior Research Assistant or Research Assistant level.
