The UMKC School of Dentistry is seeking an experienced, customer-service focused, Dental Clinic Receptionist to join our collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment. Individuals in this position are the first point of contact and are responsible for greeting, providing information, and assisting Dental School patients, visitors, faculty, staff, and students. Successful applicants will be patient, team players, who are reliable and focused on providing exceptional customer service. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Checking in patients for their appointments at time of arrival
Providing clear direction to patients, visitors, faculty, staff, and students and insuring all questions are answered (e.g. where to park, providing directions within the building, and escalating questions to supervisors when appropriate.)
Ensure the front desk is neat, presentable, and equipped with all the necessary supplies
Working cross-functionally with individuals and teams including patients accounts, team clerks, oral surgery, dental assistants, faculty, and students
Review, update, and reasonably comprehend information contained patient charts/records
Input patients information into the computer system
Scan patients' I.D. into the system/update charts when needed
Assign doctor codes when needed/end dates on charts
Provide doctors notes for work or school
Relay rationale for appointments which are cancelled or changed
Page students and/or doctors, as needed
Print daily student and screening list
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
1 year of experience as a receptionist or in a position with related clerical duties in a medical or dental environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are encouraged to apply
$11.54 - $13.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
The UMKC Dental Clinic is in operation Monday to Friday, 8:00a to 7:00p. Support departments will offer staggered shifts to support the clinic during hours of operation.
