The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at the University of Missouri-Columbia seeks up to two energetic, dynamic lecturer(s)/instructor(s) in Industrial Engineering. The unranked, non-regular faculty member will join a diverse team that is actively pursuing new frontiers in engineering education and research in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.
Candidates with backgrounds in manufacturing, human factors, applied statistics, operations research or data science are encouraged to apply. Highly desirable are candidates who can teach broadly across the breadth of industrial engineering topics. In addition to teaching, the lecturer/instructor will have opportunities to mentor students, serve on graduate student committees, and participate in research projects.
Candidates must have at least a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field by the start date.
A PhD degree or relevant industry experience is desirable. Successful candidates will possess outstanding communication and teamwork skills, be able to demonstrate the application of innovative teaching methods, have evidence of teaching effectiveness in engineering, and be committed to student success.
Starting date is anticipated to be August 17, 2020.
Applicants should submit a letter along with an updated curriculum vita, a teaching statement, evidence of effective teaching (e.g. teaching evaluations), as well as a list of three references.
This is a nine-month appointment with potential for summer courses and annual renewal. Screening of applicants will begin upon receipt and continue until the position is filled.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
