This is a per diem position with the commitment of a Saturday rotation (at least once a month)
As a per diem Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in our Imaging Nuclear Medicine, you will have the technical cardiac evaluation skills required, and will routinely assist in the performance of cardiac stress testing. These skills include, but are not limited to, EKG monitoring for stress, performing preliminary interpretation to both rest and stress electrocardiograms, and performing quality control of all data associated with stress testing and submission of results for final interpretation. Under general supervision, he/she will demonstrate knowledge and competency including but not limited to: performing treadmill, bicycle, and pharmacological stress testing including EKG preparation and obtaining accurate blood pressures.
The Clinical Exercise Physiologist demonstrates ability to recognize serious arrhythmias and ST segment abnormalities and responds with appropriate action. He/she is aware of the contraindications of testing. You will also recognize malfunctioning equipment, performs minor troubleshooting, and notifies supervisor of malfunctions in a timely manner. Will need to demonstrate the ability to provide quality patient care and assists the technologist, nurse practitioner, and/or physician during cardiac stress testing. He/she maintains competency skills including the ability to perform procedures on patients with diverse cultural backgrounds, identifies safety concerns in the age related population, and institutes measures to provide a safe environment. He/she effectively communicates /explains procedures to the age related population and makes adjustments accordingly. He/she is accountable for all applicable documentation relative to procedure performance and patient and family education.
You will act as a liaison between imaging IT and the nuclear medicine department to establish and/or resolve connectivity issues with EKG equipment in the stress lab(s), provide recommendations for new equipment purchases in the stress lab(s), initiate urgent and routine maintenance request for stress lab equipment, demonstrate continuous self-improvement, make effective contributions to the section, and adhere to CSHS compliance plan, code of conduct, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures. He/she will serve as a preceptor for students, regarding stress testing, and Exercise Physiologist new hires. A Senior EP will implement inservice training sessions to educate other staff members including Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
