This Research Administrative Assistant position at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center will have a focus on the topic of behavior and development. The position involves data collection on working dogs throughout their development from eight weeks until graduation. This data collection includes hands-on testing with the dogs, as well as collaborative data collection with the trainers at the Center..
This Research Administrative Assistant position at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center will have a focus on the topic of behavior and development. The position involves data collection on working dogs throughout their development from eight weeks until graduation. This data collection includes hands-on testing with the dogs, as well as collaborative data collection with the trainers at the Center. This position is responsible for keeping track of each dogsâ™ data collection schedule and coordinating with trainers to schedule behavior testing, thus excellent communicative (oral and written) skills is a must. The research administrative assistant is also responsible for keeping logs of the testing schedule, as well as organizing all testing videos and maintaining a database of behavioral testing videos. This individual should have experience training others, as the position requires collaboration with and training of other research interns and volunteers. The research administrative assistant reports to the postdoctoral fellow and the research department at the PVWDC. Prior experience coding behavioral videos is great but not required. This position is contingent upon funding.

Managing research projects (e.g. continually keeping track of goals and progress of research projects)
Daily husbandry and training of research canines
Managing research volunteers and interns
Bachelorâ™s Degree and 1+ years experience in research and/or data analysis or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Prior experience with short (one month) to long (1+ years) term research projects is also required. Dog handling and video coding experience (e.g. Noldus Observer, BORIS, Solomon Coder) are preferred.
