The Department of Biological Sciences at ETSU operates laboratories that support instruction of over 800 undergraduate students each semester along with the research activities of 18 faculty and approximately 35 graduate students. Safe, efficient and effective operation of these laboratories is vital to the mission of the Department and ETSU. The Laboratory Manager is responsible for
Operational management of teaching laboratories, including safety, procurement, experiment preparation, inventory control, waste disposal and maintaining readiness.
Supervision of laboratory support personnel.
Chemical waste disposal and management for the entire department.
Organizing safety training for undergraduate students attending teaching laboratories, faculty and graduate students.
Serving as the primary interface to the ETSU Offices of Environmental Health & Safety and Facilities Management.
Implementation of department chemical hygiene and safety plans.
Position is contingent upon sufficient funding.
The Fair Labor Standards Act status of exempt or non-exempt will depend on the incumbent's entry salary for this position.
