Background with schools of medicine, public health or health professions preferred
Experience in the development and implementation of new programs in nursing preferred
Active involvement in relevant professional associations; regional/national/international reputation as a leader within the field preferred
Experience in writing and managing grants preferred
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Oversee daily operations of the unit, including the budget
Work with Dean of COHS and University administration to secure resources
Serve as School of Nursing (SON) representative on University committees/councils
Supervise SON faculty and staff members
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to accomplish the mission, goals and expected outcomes of the SON
Build and maintain relationships with clinical agencies and area schools of nursing
Maintain an environment conducive to the teaching/learning process
Facilitation of faculty recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention
Build and support relationships with the community

The School of Nursing is located at The Woodlands Center campus approximately 40 miles south of the main campus in Huntsville, TX. The successful candidate will be expected maintain a campus presence as part of the School of Nursing faculty.
