The Department of English in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Cincinnati has an opening for a Community Engagement Coordinator. The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for outreach, both within and outside of UC. This is the primary work of this position. Duties include curating the physical and digital collection of the Elliston Poetry Room; working with faculty and graduate students on outreach to K-12 schools and community groups; supporting undergraduate groups; coordinating events; locating and applying for appropriate grants; and publicizing events, student groups, and other activities.
The Elliston Poetry Collection is an archive that includes over 700 unique audio recordings (dated from 1951 to the present) as well as a digital directory for approximately 20,000 artifacts. The Community Engagement Coordinator willalso perform the following duties:
Make live audio recordings of readings and lectures sponsored by the Department of English
Process those recordings, i.e. create separate audio files for individual poems and stories, then upload recordings and descriptions to our online digital collection
Edit closed-captioning text of recordings
Upload/contribute information to the Elliston Project website
Other duties as assigned
