A job with Student Affairs Marketing provides students the opportunity to work in an agency-like atmosphere where creative problem-solving and collaboration with colleagues lead to the development of effective strategies to build awareness, engagement, and action from target audiences. All Student Affairs Marketing staff will contribute to the creation, implementation, and assessment of various marketing and communications initiatives
The Multimedia Photographer reports to the Digital Media Specialist and works closely with various members of the marketing team and professional staff and clients from around the Division of Student Affairs. Members of Student Affairs Marketing participate in various meetings, workshops, critiques, and brainstorming sessions as necessary.
The Multimedia Photographer has a creative eye and a flexible schedule. They will cover everything from major university events, department functions, marketing campaign shoots, as well as take portraits of staff and students.
Photographs/videos events and programs for documentation purposes.
Photographs/videos people, places, and scenes for advertising campaigns.
Photographs/videos headshots, campus, and other scenes as necessary.
Edits and shares photo collections with clients, team members, and the public in a timely manner.
Edits videos into professional commercials, presentations, or other formats.
Maintains structure of Photo Libraries to optimize search capabilities.
Collaborates via video brainstorms with staff and clients if needed.
Current Indiana University student.
Solid understanding of DSLR cameras, lighting, and gathering audio. Experience editing videos with Adobe Premiere and with creating interactive graphics with Adobe After Effects. Experience editing photos with Adobe Photoshop, Camera Raw, and Photo Mechanic. Ability to work a flexible schedule to cover some evening and weekend events, as well as maintaining some office hours. Fine attention to detail. Ability to maintain professionalism, dependability, and respect for others. Exceptional decision-making skills and autonomy. Exceptional communication skills. Ability to perform well in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere. Motivated, with ability to strive for ongoing improvement. Ability to receive constructive criticism in order to improve skillset.
Desire to continuously improve and learn more about photography. Extensive experience photographing events in all shooting environments. Experience with video, video editing and digital image editing. Comfortable directing others, including full-time staff and management. Understanding of effective marketing tactics. Strong sense of curiosity and creativity. Passionate about learning.
