Campus Communications Infrastructure (CCI) is a unit within the Networks division of University Information Technology Services (UITS). CCI's portfolio includes Active Directory Services, Skype for Business, Office 365, Teams, Exchange, Enterprise Certificate Authority, IronPort email security, IU List, IU Fax, PureConnect Contact Centers, Ribbon Session Boarder Controllers and Gateways, AudioCodes IP/TDM gateways, and PCR360. CCI Systems services are consumed by users across all Indiana University campuses. The centralized environment consists of over 500,000 AD user accounts, 50,000 Exchange mailboxes and 20,000 Lync accounts.
Specifically, this position will be part of the Windows Team within CCI.
As a member of the Windows Team, you'll work in a fast paced dynamic environment designing, building and maintaining Active Directory Services, Skype for Business, Office 365, Teams, Exchange, Enterprise Certificate Authority and other services.
With minimal supervision, the Lead Systems Engineer provides specialized technical expertise in the installation, administration and maintenance of the centralized Exchange, Lync (Skype for Business, Active Directory and Enterprise Certificate Authority environments serving all IU campuses..
Actively leads or participates as a key member of project teams throughout the project management life cycle process including developing a project plan, defining project goals and objectives, specifying tasks or how goals will be achieved and what resources are needed, and associating budgets and timelines for completion.
As the lead technical resource for assigned mission-critical systems, performs System Administration tasks including system and security monitoring and tuning, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, services and key processes. Uses enterprise monitoring tools to analyze system and application logs, addresses any monitoring alerts and identifies and implements appropriate solutions. Shares on-call pager responsibilities with the rest of the team.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related discipline and three years of experience managing production Windows server environments.
Combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
Experience working with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V). Experience using PowerShell, Visual Basic, or equivalent scripting languages to automate tasks and integrate systems. Experience participating in the design and deployment of critical IT infrastructure services. Experience with project planning and management. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Customer service attitude and willingness to work as part of a team in a dynamic and complex environment. Ability to work with a variety of people with varying degrees of technical knowledge. Ability to assume project leadership for projects and work at the highest level of technical complexity. Strong problem solving skills with high levels of accuracy, dependability and responsibility. Familiarity with PowerShell, batch scripting, task scheduling, or other process automation. Familiarity with Azure, Azure AD, or other cloud based subscription platforms. Familiarity with Microsoft Server Technologies (Exchange, Skype for Business, Active Directory, ECA, Server OSes, SCCM, SCOM, DFS, ADFS).

Attendance, writing, driving, sitting and/or standing (particularly for long periods of time), keyboarding and/or staring at a computer screen (particularly for long periods of time), talking, hearing, walking, seeing, lifting.
May have to provide support during evenings and weekends to meet deadlines and/or perform system maintenance. May have to travel between IU campuses. Occasional travel for conferences and/or training.
