As such, our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department plays a vital role in supporting that mission through the implementation of programs that continuously strive to exceed and set industry standards as well as enhance the safety culture. EHS is responsible for enterprise-wide environmental health and safety services, including Fire and Life Safety, Emergency Management, Construction Safety, Hazardous Material and Waste Management, Laboratory Safety, Occupational Safety, Healthcare Safety, Environmental Compliance and Ergonomics. MSK is seeking a proven Emergency Management leader who can be part of a dynamic and growing organization.
As the Director, Emergency Management, you will:
Be responsible for direction in planning, coordinating, and maintaining a state of readiness for internal and external event responses throughout MSK; Memorial Hospital, Sloan Kettering Institute (SKI), and Ambulatory Care and business locations.
Provide necessary project management and support for all emergency preparedness and recovery activities as needed.
Direct and support activities of the Emergency Management and Business Continuity Committee (EMBCC).
Plan, coordinate and implement emergency preparedness drills.
Develop staff education programs in emergency preparedness and management. Support activities which demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements.
Supervise activities of the Resiliency Manager and the Training and Exercise Coordinator.
Support administrative duties of the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS).
Oversee the purchase, storage and deployment of emergency equipment and supplies.
A Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in emergency management, public safety, management of emergency services, crisis management, or related field.
At least 5 years experience directing a comprehensive emergency management program at a 300+ bed and outpatient healthcare facility.
The capability of working independently and as a team member to develop and implement programs with EHS staff and MSK departments.
Ability to act decisively when responding to emergency situations.
Knowledge of federal, state and city regulations pertaining to health and safety.
Excellent communication skills and ability to influence effectively at all levels within the organization.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and consensus building skills.
Operational problem solving/decision making experience.
Take calculated risks with consultation from senior management. Work closely with senior management to establish long-range strategic plans and objectives.
Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of products.
