Performs licensing and permitting work. Work involves receiving and reviewing permit applications; ensuring compliance with applicable policies, administrative codes, and statutes; communicating with external and internal customers; and approving permits.
Reviews applications for stormwater general permits, under the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) program for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable rules and established division procedures and guidelines. Inputs permit applications and required technical data for permits into appropriate computer applications and systems with minimal errors. Provides telephone and e-mail customer service to the regulated community, consultants, and general public; answers questions regarding completing and submitting applications; and supplies information regarding permit processing, policies, and procedures. Support and resolve customer inquiries. Tracks workload and productivity for a variety of tasks and provides monthly reports to management as applicable. Locates and interprets information from a number of databases and systems. Accesses customer account information via computer systems and makes necessary entries in order to resolve problems. Performs administrative duties that involves communication and coordination with other divisions within the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and which requires a thorough understanding of the functions, programs and policies of the TCEQ. Trains and mentors staff members as needed. Participates in agency Central Registry maintenance and data cleanup. Assists in maintaining the Stormwater processing Center's procedures and practices up-to-date. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree. One (1) year of upper level secretarial experience or high school with five (5) years of increasingly responsible administrative, secretarial and clerical or the equivalent experience.
Experience answering, screening, and routing phone calls and emails; helping customers with technical questions; data entry and preparing correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents.
