Under the direction of a supervisory official, performs varied simple and moderately physically strenuous tasks involved in cleaning and maintaining all areas related to campus academic, administrative, and residential buildings. These areas include but are not limited to building offices, common area lounges, stairwells, public restrooms, and all grounds related to campus residence halls and apartment buildings. Ability to use cleaning machinery, buffer, vacuum cleaner, and some knowledge of cleaning chemicals. May assist in making minor repairs to buildings or equipment; collects and disposes of trash and recyclables, cleans restrooms, kitchens, floors, carpet, etc. Replaces light bulbs. Also does snow removal and other related duties as required. Floor work including stripping and waxing floors and carpet cleaning. Moves furniture and sets up tables and chairs for various events throughout campus.
Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
This temporary, part-time position is assigned up to twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Positions are subject to approval at the beginning of each fiscal year, and assignment lengths are contingent upon budget appropriations.
Work assignments will vary across all work shifts but will primarily include weekend hours. Exact work hours will be based on the operational needs of the department.
