Provides lead support and coordination through customer service to university groups and external constituents for conferences and meetings within the Thompson Student Center including but not limited to: set-up/tear-down of event fixtures; coordination, maintenance and repair of A/V (audio/visual) equipment (including support and instruction on equipment use); monitoring/maintaining of facilities before and during events. Hire, train and supervise student workers that will provide A/V support; Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate. May require evenings and weekends.
50% Provides support and coordination to university groups and external constituents for conferences/meetings/events within the Thompson Student Center including but not limited to:Â Â Set-up/tear-down for events including tables, chairs, staging, and dance floor (as needed). Coordination of A/V equipment specific to customer needs.Â Instruction/training for customers utilizing their own A/V support personnel and verifying compatibility with external A/V equipment. Monitor/maintain entryways, restrooms, air vents, and outside entry areas before and during events. On-site support during the event to accommodate last minute requests and needs, all while providing a high degree of emphasis on customer service.
20% Provides support and training to staff members and volunteers including but not limited to:Â Training for Event Coordinator, Assistant Director, Executive Director, Graduate Assistant and Student Workers on A/V systems.Â Hire, train and supervise student workers who will serve as the A/V support during events. These individuals will serve as the A/V liaison in the absence of the Events Team Leader, providing support to customers as needed and monitoring/maintaining public areas during events.Â
15% Coordinates reporting on behalf of the department including but not limited to:Â Ordering supplies and rectifying monthly procurement card statement.Â Maintaining building inventory and preparing annual inventory report.Â Identifying maintenance issues and submitting web-based work orders. Oversight of the daily checklist for the Thompson Student Center.
10% Assists in various day-to-day operational tasks including but not limited to:Â Attending staff meetings (weekly) and special meetings as requested.Â Maintaining and repairing A/V equipment or working with IT and a 3rd party contractor.Â Shampooing carpets/replacing carpet squares within the conferencing area.Â Supervising and performing all building furniture moves and/or repairs.Â Performing light audits. Operating scissor lift as needed for decorations in ballroom, dusting high areas and hanging/removing banners. Perform opening and closing tasks for the facility.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelorâ™s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of experience with A/V equipment, meeting and conference set-up and related customer service.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills. Ability to take a lead role. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements: Requires work beyond normal office hours and/ or work on weekends.
