Position Summary and ResponsibilitiesThe First-Year Experience/Community Care (FYE/CC) Project Lead is a full-time professional who will have a leadership role in community-building efforts for first year students, beginning from matriculation throughout the first year. This role will directly connect with the other efforts of the Office of Student Growth & Engagement (SGE) to promote a campus environment that helps all students thrive, especially during this challenging COVID-19 pandemic. The role will facilitate summer engagement activities with first years and help them transition to the Vassar campus community. The FYE/CC Project Lead will have a significant role in developing, implementing and assessing the First-Year Experience (FYE) Program. Given SGE's value in centering health and wellness for all students as a part of Vassar's living and learning environment, the FYE/CC Project Lead will be expected to plan towards those interests. The role will frequently collaborate with other SGE centers/offices, as well as campus partners in the Dean of the College division and across the college. The FYE/CC Project Lead works to engage students and promote a culture of care among the first years, additional new students during the academic year, and contribute to the general student body during this time of transition and uncertainty. The role will collaborate with the VassarTogether initiative, specifically moving forward the work of community care and performing additional projects necessary to support student life at Vassar College during COVID-19.
Develop and coordinate virtual and on-site events to engage the Class of 2024 with the goals of increasing yield/retention rates and promoting engagement.
Assisting with developing, implementing and assessing the FYE Program.
Coordinating aspects of the Community Care Safety Team (as outlined by the Community Standards VassarTogether Subcommittee): an interdisciplinary team of students, faculty, staff, and administrators who center bystander intervention techniques and other accountability practices to ensure adherence to Community Standards during COVID-19.
Engage in other duties related to the description of this role in supporting projects and initiatives related to VassarTogether, and the return to on-campus living.
Bachelor's degree required; experience in student support and healthcare a plus.
Must have strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with a diverse community of employees, students and visitors.
