The Lab Technician provides technical and non-technical assistance to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation and maintenance of our CLIA-certified commercial genotyping laboratory for the new COVID-testing site within the Kilachand Center. Position will inventory all lab equipment; order and store supplies when/if necessary, and sets up lab at the beginning of the day and breaks down lab at night. In addition, (s)he will monitor equipment calibration, perform routine maintenance and lab security, and perform routine genetic assays using semi-automated equipment (liquid handling robot). Position will also collect, analyze and interpret test result data and prepare summaries of laboratory results.
High school degree required; Associates degree (or two years of college level courses in the sciences) is preferred. Familiarity with concepts, practices, and procedures related to genetic testing and genotyping. Minimum 2 4 years related experience. CLIA certified or other regulatory laboratory experience a plus. Previous experience with working in a team environment. Strong attention to detail.
