We are currently seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral research fellow interested in studying the role of astrocytes in regulating synaptic plasticity in vivo. The successful candidate will employ viral-mediated in vivo manipulation of astrocyte gene expression, followed by perturbations to the visual system to determine if the ability to induce plasticity is altered by astrocytes. In depth analysis of candidate factors will require brain slice recordings and immunohistochemical analysis of synaptic proteins. Ph.D in Neuroscience or related discipline, with an emphasis on in vivo study of neuronal synapses.
