Summary of Position:
Assist in planning and organizing all phases of a NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Program, including, but not limited to the following: recruiting, developing each student-athlete on and off the court, game preparation, hiring work study employees, fundraising, community involvement, and coordinator of summer camps and clinics. Must be prepared to show you have the passion to be an integral part of taking this program to the next level.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Required Work Experience:
Coaching experience at the collegiate or major high school level. Must have recruiting experience and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:
Applicable coaching experience at the NCAA, NAIA or JUCO levels with two seasons as a top assistant. Demonstrated public relation skills used in promotion of a basketball program.
Evaluate performance and instruct non-professional athletes. Assist the Head Coach in coordinating fundraising, camps, and public relations to create a positive image for the University, and to enhance revenues. Coordinate a staff of students to effectively accomplish the administrative tasks to run an efficient program. Analyze video for current team and scout opponents. Oversee daily practice of players and determine individual or team improvement needs. Effectively teach basketball skills, to include weight lifting and conditioning programs. Take initiative in the recruiting process. Identify future needs prior to recruiting season by watching videos and attending recruiting events. Recruit, direct and motivate student-athletes for success on and off the playing court. Provide a positive learning environment and mentor the student-athletes. Support and monitor student-athletes academic progress. Maintain effective liaison between FSU instructors, sports medicine staff and all athletic staff.
