JOBSUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the supervision of theAdministrative Director, the Simulation Education Coordinator assists the GraduateSchool of Medicine, University Health Systems, and external faculty with thedevelopment and facilitation of simulation-based medical education coursecurricula and research.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides curriculum development and technical guidance for all faculty regarding simulation-based medical education course design, selection and use of Simulation models and equipment, and simulation based medical education research design.
Assists with development of simulation scenarios, if required for the curriculum, as well as assessment tools and coordination of run-throughs for all new courses.
Provides instruction on procedural skills, as well as feedback, coaching, and evaluation of learners participating in simulation-based education classes as requested by the course faculty or Simulation Center.
Facilitates scheduled UT Center for Advanced Medical Simulation class sessions by selecting and preparing appropriate task trainers, manikins, biologic models, and all other support equipment such as beds, monitors, instruments, etc. required for the course.
Oversees manikin and audio/visual operations during simulation scenarios and Objective Structured Clinical Exam sessions.
Creates models or alteration of existing models (manikin or SP moulage, bandaging, etc.), as needed.
Assists the lab coordinator with coordination of Bioskills labs to include sponsor communications, setup and cleanup of lab, tissue handling and operation of surgical equipment.
Assesses inventory and organizes storage of Simulation Center equipment and supplies.
Recommends and prepares new equipment/supply orders for Lab Coordinator and Administrative Director.
Performs data collection and documentation for Simulation Center events.
Enters course data into Simulation Center database.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
