The Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine of Tufts University provides advanced veterinary care throughout New England and serves as the primary clinical training environment for veterinary students, interns and residents. The anesthesia service provides anesthesia to both the small and large animal hospitals. The caseload is varied but generally consists of 10-25 anesthetic cases per weekday and includes a wide variety of species. There is also a robust emergency anesthetic caseload that the service cares for through a rotating on call schedule. The mission of the Cummings School is to improve and promote the health and well-being of animals, people and ecosystems we share.
Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University invites applications for a Staff Veterinarian in anesthesia and analgesia to provide additional support to our service. This is a six-month position, renewable up to one year. The successful candidate will join our anesthesia service consisting of 4 ACVAA Diplomats, 2 residents, and 13 dedicated technicians. We are seeking a candidate who is familiar with a high paced environment and committed to both excellent patient care and to student teaching. The position will work in both the large and small animal hospitals, hours will consist of daytime shifts, swing shift coverage, after hours and weekend emergency coverage. The selected candidate will primarily be expected to help manage the high caseload of the service by functioning as a primary anesthetist on cases and assisting with afterhours case coverage. However, occasional shifts overseeing the anesthesia service will occur as well as didactic teaching of students. The ideal candidate will have a supportive and positive outlook, be a strong multitasker, a great communicator, and will not be easily overwhelmed. We work extremely well as a team and work together to try to allow for a balance between work and personal life.
* DVM degree or equivalent * Completion of a residency in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia * MA veterinary license must be obtained prior to employment.

Special Work Schedule Requirements:
This position requires working evenings and weekends, with 7 weeks/year of daytime rotations.
