Job Description Summary
The Translational Neuropathology Research Laboratoryâ™s (TNRL) mission is to increase the knowledge concerning the cause and cure of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimerâ™s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal lobar degeneration.Â TNRL is recruiting for a Research Specialist to assist with research into how DNA methylation in human brain tissue and cells is associated with neurodegeneration.Â The successful candidate should have experience working with tissue for molecular biology assays (DNA methylation, RNA expression) and histology/immunohistochemistry.Â Addition experience in bioinformatics, image analysis or tissue biochemistry is preferred.Â Candidate will also handle some administrative tasks including assisting in entering requisitions for general laboratory supplies and organizing/maintaining lab equipment.Â The candidate must have good communication skills, be very organized and have the ability to multi-task.Â Opportunities to supervise and train other laboratory personnel including students may be available.
Research Specialist B: Assist in research on the molecular alterations in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimerâ™s disease, ALS and FTD using established and novel techniques including histology, biochemistry and DNA/RNA analysis. Â The candidate should have the following experience: molecular biology and histology/immunohistochemistry. Â Addition experience in bioinformatics, image analysis or biochemistry is preferred. Â Candidate will also handle a few administrative tasks including assisting in entering requisitions for general laboratory supplies and organizing/maintaining lab supplies. Â Ability to multi-task, good communication and organization skills are required. Â Opportunities to supervise and train other laboratory personnel including students may be available.
Research Specialist C:
In addition to above duties, the research specialist C will be responsible for organizing collaborative studies with other laboratories which includes data analysis to correlate molecular data with clinical and radiologic features in a cohort of neurodegenerative disease cases.Â
