Essential Job Duties:
The IT Security Analyst/Programmer position will focus on technical and analytical work in developing, designing, and/or analyzing technical solutions for OIT Security & Compliance through an appropriate blending of technical knowledge and business solutions. This position will participate in the development of solutions using programming expertise for day-to-day problems to include maintenance, modification, or development of complex inter-related applications/solutions. The position will serve as subject matter expert on security automation, security service development, process design and development, and assisting developers to ensure secure coding practices are being followed.
Primary job responsibilities include:
Collaborating regularly with management and other OIT/campus staff to develop tactics for security solutions in line with the university's cybersecurity strategic plan.
Analyzing and problem solving current manual processes for automation
Utilizing vendor APIs such as XMLRPC and REST to automate business processes
Collaborating with other campus developers on projects and integration with various data sources and systems
Provides security guidance and implementation assistance for web applications, security code reviews, and vulnerability assessments.
Serves as a point of contact for security tools and processes developed in house.
Participate in an on-call rotation and provide other duties, as needed.
Master's degree and at least two years' of relevant experience; or Bachelor's degree with at least three years' of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
- For management‐level roles, also include with the above requirements 1‐2 years of supervisory experience.
Hands-on technical experience in the information security field.
Good technical writing skills and experience with the development of technical and procedural documentation.
Experience with coordination of multiple vendor solutions.
Ability to develop solutions to automate security tools and processes.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Familiar with networking and data storage solutions
Ability to comprehend system and application related specifications and requirements; design and maintain applications using modern computer science-based tools and techniques; communicate with systems users; understand and follow directions
SANS or vendor specific certifications in security topics are a plus.
Experience in addressing complex issues, analyzing client needs and advising on effective and appropriate solutions.
Experience with leveraging security tool APIs scripting, and other methods to automate and optimize existing security assurance practices.
Experience or equal understanding of a risk-based approach to security.
Working experience in the information security field.
Strong technical writing skills and experience with the development of technical and procedural documentation.
Experience with the coordination of multiple vendor solutions in a university environment.
Experience collaborating with other departments and divisions to recommend/implement a solution to common problems.
Experience using ServiceNow or a similar call tracking system.
Experience and knowledge of state government rules and regulations.
