Supervises inpatient and ambulatory professional coding workflows. Monitors and assesses performance of coding staff to assure timely, accurate coding. Assures delivery of coding staff education and training. Informs, educates and coordinates with other revenue cycle and clinical operations staff regarding coding and charge capture for professional services. This is a working coding position in addition to supervising.
Minimum Education: High school diploma required. Successful completion of college courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology and a certified coding program preferred. Minimum Experience/Knowledge: Minimum of five years of professional coding experience in ICD-CM and CPT-4, with at least two of those years in a supervisory role. Must be able to function as an immediate liaison to providers and departments related to clinical documentation improvement and optimal charge capture. Effectively partner with revenue cycle staff on coding denials managementEffectively analyze coding and documentation trends and develop education and training based on this informationWill be required to pass coding testRequired License/Certification:Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
