The Research Assistant II will support a dynamic laboratory working on breast cancer and epithelial biology, that includes graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The RA II will perform routine laboratory tasks necessary for the daily operation of the lab including ordering supplies, keeping inventory up to date, making solutions and other reagents, and maintaining laboratory equipment. The RA II will also perform experiments using cell and molecular biology techniques such as cloning, cryo-sectioning, cell imaging, antibody characterization, immunoprecipitations and blotting, protein expression, cell culture, lentivirus production, and transfections.
The research laboratory consists of a group of about 10 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, who are pursuing cutting-edge research projects in breast cancer and stem cell biology, high-end microscopy, cancer biology and epithelial biology. The group is collaborative and meets to discuss their research on a weekly basis. There is the opportunity to learn new techniques and participate in research projects. The laboratory is situated in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, which provides a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment for innovative research. CDB is an interactive and highly collaborative department, with a strong graduate student association, outstanding core facilities, a top-ranked developmental biology program, and exceptionally strong faculty.
