To advise, match, and place mid-level and secondary education students in appropriate early field experiences and clinical teaching each semester (fall, spring). The students are from the on-campus initial educator preparation programs.
Coordinate clinical teaching seminars for candidates in mid-level and secondary teacher education. Advise students of clinical teaching requirements. Work collaborative with others in TEA documentation, student degree audits, hiring qualified supervisors, identifying clinical placements, training supervisors. Communicate activities related to clinical experiences and answer questions clearly through excellent written and verbal communication with students, program coordinators and clinical supervisors. Troubleshoot and solve problems to solve problems encountered with planning and delivering clinical experiences with students and clinical supervisors in regards to clinical teaching problems, and make decisions with minimal supervision. Follow the policies and practices of the Texas Education Agency to ensure that student field experiences are in accordance with TEA regulations. This includes making sure paperwork is received, completed, and uploaded; clinical assignments are made, Teach of Record and other supervisory documents are submitted in accordance with the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) related Texas teacher certification. Teach a 1:1 (one course each semester, Fall/Spring) as a Clinical Supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.
Master's degree in mid-level or secondary education area. Five (5) years of teaching experience in K-12 mid-level or secondary content area or the equivalent experience. Understanding of Texas (TEA) clinical experience requirements. Strong organizational skills. Strong writing and communication skills.
Master's degree in mid-level or secondary education area. Previous higher education experience in teacher education with direct academic advising or 5 year's equivalent experience. And at least one year of clinical teaching supervision experience in an institution of higher education. University-level teaching experience.
