Responsibilities: 50% Manager of the CCSC Personnel responsibilities: Oversees the hiring, training, and scheduling of CCSC personnel (lab assistants, simulation specialists, standardized patients, and student workers); Supervises CCSC personnel; Partners with Center for Instructional Innovation (CII) personnel; Works closely with the Department Head of Nursing to provide CCSC updates and recommendations for improvement. Operations related responsibilities: Assures an efficient and consistent organizational flow of the day-to-day operations of the CCSC; Maintains a budget for the CCSC; Continually evaluates and implements (via CCSC personnel) current clinical and simulation evidence and best practices; Schedules skills labs, simulation experiences, and continuing education courses in the CCSC; Supports faculty in the development and use of simulation; Partners with faculty and CCSC personnel to ensure supervision of students in the CCSC; Oversees the maintenance, repair, and replenishment of equipment; Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of supplies; Interfaces with sales representatives and vendors; Participates in and has responsibilities related to risk assessment by the University; Conducts tours of the CCSC.
35% Teaching Develop, implement and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect the current levels of knowledge in the discipline; Exhibit willingness to work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify professional development activities which will lead to effective student learning outcomes. Primary responsibility in the Department of Nursing will be effective teaching in the classroom, skills lab, simulation, and clinical areas for undergraduate students; Design and /or implement course(s)/clinical(s) consistent with the programs curriculum; Create a positive, effective, learning environment for students in all areas; Collect and use evaluation data to improve teaching, learning, and student competency; Function as an effective, cohesive team member; Be present on campus and available for student access and inquiry.
5% Scholarship Remain current in nursing discipline and events related to the healthcare environment; Participates in scholarly activities and applies evidence-based practice in the classroom, clinical, and lab settings with students.
10% Service: Exhibit a mature view of your discipline; Maintain an appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising, orientation; Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorships, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment and mentoring of new and part-time faculty. Participate in department, college, and university committees, teams, or task forces; Provide accurate advising information and serve as an advocate for nursing students; Participate in on-going and end-of-semester evaluation of the BSN program and annual data collection and analysis of student learning outcomes; Function as an effective team member at the department, college, and university levels.
Required Education and Experience: Master of Science degree in Nursing or a Master's degree with 18 semester credit hours of nursing education courses. Must have experience in simulation, simulation pedagogy, technology, and preparation of simulation cases.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be knowledgeable in the discipline. Demonstrate the potential for effective instruction as evaluated by their peers, department head, and college dean.
Must have an unencumbered RN license and be licensed in the state of Texas or eligible for licensure in the state of Texas.
